I’m a little late to the table with this, but while planning the High Tide Fashion Show/Fundraiser I’ve been looking up new music by old (subjective term) favourites, like Montreal’s CFCF. Upon hearing the Exercise EP, track 3 kept standing out and I’m sure it’s because I’ve seen the video before. I’m digging The Giver vibe here.

I also came across this fan version below:

I don’t know about it being sped up, but I feel like the cityscape’s lend themselves well to the song. Would love to see a mix between the official video, and aerial/helicopter shots of these huge cities, all in black and white.

Title Track from M83’s Score for “Oblivion”

In what is good news for literally the whole entire world, M83‘s Anthony Gonzalez provided the score for the Tom Cruise-starring sci-fi film Oblivion. The track “Oblivion”, features Norwegian singer Susanne Sundfør. Anythony himself has confirmed via Twitter that it’s from the films End Credits.

According to Rolling Stone, Gonzalez collaborated with Joseph Trapanese on the soundtrack; Trapanese previously collaborated with Daft Punk on the soundtrack to Tron: Legacy. The soundtrack arrives April 9 via Back Lot Records. The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski, apparently pays homage to the science fiction films of the 1970s, which is just peachy. It will be released on April 19.

“This One’s For All You Knitters Out There”

Sunday night at the Kelowna Community Theatre, some close friends Kingdom Cloud (@KINGDOM_CLOUD), Aidan Knight (@aidanknight), Said the Whale (@saidthewhale) and We Are The City (@WeAreTheCity) all performed on the same stage, which to be quite honest (and every one that went already knows) was completely awesome. This was less like a concert and more getting together with old friends and turning the stereo up way loud.

I got to sit down with all these bands and talk to them about the show for Awesome Okanagan and unfortunately we have to extend our apologies to Kingdom Cloud, Sven Peterson and Said the Whale as a technical mishap deleted all your interviews, probably the least awesome thing we’ve reported on yet.

Enjoy the rest of the video as I talk to We Are The City about night predators from the sky, getting a little too excited during Jackie Chan movies, and the possibility of an Aidan Knight/Debra-Jean side-project EP. Said the Whale, we promise to make it up to you. Kingdom Cloud, you’re here all summer, let’s make a music video.

Wanna hear more of Aidan Knight and Debra-Jean’s track “Last Night”? Good I post it everywhere all the time put it on a Mixcast so you can listen to it now!

Architecture in Helsinki Needs You Now

Another email that just came in, Cut Copy is about to launch ‘number of quality reinterpretations of “Need You Now”’ and the first sneak peak they sent is this re-imagined version by Architecture in Helsinki who ‘for some reason thought it would be a good idea to imagine the tune as a classic Roy Orbison record’.

William Fitzsimmons – Let You Break (feat. Julia Stone)

This morning I was lucky enough to find in my mailbox a link from Nettwork Music Group for this great single on the latest William Fitzsimmons album “Gold in the Shadow” featuring Julia Stone from Agnus & Julia Stone (who I posted yesterday). I’m doubly excited because I’ve also posted Fitzsimmons before and really got into his last album “Derivatives” a couple months back. Gold in the Shadow is due out April 11th, but if you’re eager the digital release was March 22nd and you can pick it up here.
